Water Analysis and Custom
Fertilizer Recommendations
The health and overall quality of your crop depends greatly on the water and nutrients that are supplied to it. Therefore, monitoring the elements and nutrient levels of your water throughout the life of the crop is key to realizing the full potential of the plant. FIRSTMARK AGRICULTURE offers ongoing analysis and fertilizer adjustments for your crop, from planting through harvest. This is done through water and plant sap testing to know how your plants are doing on a nutritional level and what changes need to be made to the nutrition program to maximize yield.
Water quality guidelines provide a list of important water quality parameters with their associated tolerance levels for specific uses.
FIRSTMARK AGRICULTURE offers test packages that are tailored to a particular agricultural application such as irrigation and crop suitability.
Advanced SAP and Irrigation suitability tests include additional water quality and soil tests required for specific on-site conditions. For instance information regarding the soil texture and chemistry, crop type, and method of irrigation (i.e. drip irrigation vs. sprinkler) all can impact the suitability of a given water source.

For many reasons, especially in a hydroponic setting, water is what drives the plant transpiration cycle. Without water, plants would not be able to uptake nutrients or transport nutrients within their tissue.
Water is a carrier and transporter of nutrients to your plants and within your plants. While water facilitates many plant growth processes, and even though many of these processes cannot take place without the presence of water, most of the water itself reacts very little with the nutrient molecules in it. Of course, that is only true if you are using distilled water or water that has been passed through a reverse osmosis filter.
While water itself will not cause nutrient uptake problems, the dissolved salts and minerals also present in your water will. Distilled and reverse osmosis water should show a TDS of zero ppm. As this number increases, the possibility of a nutrient uptake problem also increases.
Most of the dissolved solids in water come from calcium carbonate. This and sodium can cause problems for your growing operation. You need to fully analyze and scrutinize all elements in your water to provide supplementation to hit your nutrient, EC and pH targets in order to maximize plant growth.
Plant Growth Depends on Water
Although advanced SAP and irrigation suitability packages provide the primary water quality parameters of importance, a customized advanced suitability package can be required depending on the crop type or specific on-site considerations.
